Susumu Kurobe

To me, Susumu Kurobe will always be Shin Hayata, the guy who raised the Beta Capsule and became the very first Ultraman back in 1966, and honestly that's about the coolest thing a person can have on their resume. There's something almost too perfect about it: a Chuo University man from Kurobe in Toyama, 175 cm of clean, upright posture, and those early photos show a genuinely handsome leading-man face, no wonder the squad-member role fit like a glove. He never struck me as the type to loudly sell himself, yet decades on the tokusatsu world still treats him with real reverence, and the applause at appearances never seems to quit. The fact that one transformation pose can still make grown adults grin across generations? That's a rare kind of legacy, and I tip my hat to the man.
