Aaron Blaise

Aaron Blaise is, to me, one of those names that quietly underpins a whole generation's childhood. Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King, Brother Bear: his hand is in the films that made me believe drawn animals could feel real. What I admire most now is that he turned from animating to teaching, passing the craft forward rather than guarding it. That generosity, the Academy Award nomination aside, is the mark of a true artist. Hand-drawn animation may be rarer today, but custodians like him keep its soul alive, and I respect that enormously.
