My Take

Adelaide Clemens is an Australian actress whose résumé tells me she's a critic's favorite more than a tabloid one, which I tend to like. Love My Way at home, then Parade's End for the BBC and HBO, and especially Tawney across all four seasons of Rectify, a show people who watched it never stop praising. That Rectify run in particular signals an actress drawn to slow, character-driven prestige drama rather than franchise noise. To me she's the kind of performer you discover halfway through a series and then go looking for everything else she's done. Steady, deliberate, and clearly more interested in the work than the spotlight.
