My Take
I'll be honest — before I started looking into joshi puroresu, Akane Fujita was not a name I'd have been able to place, but once you dig in, she's exactly the kind of wrestler the scene quietly runs on. Born in Ehime in 1987 — yes, the place famous for citrus and hot springs, not exactly a breeding ground for pro wrestlers — she stepped into Ice Ribbon and debuted in 2013, grinding through a world where you earn respect one match at a time. She picked up the FantastICE Championship and the Triangle Ribbon Championship along the way, and by her later career she was crossing over into Stardom, which tells you promoters trusted her to deliver in different rooms with different crowds.
