My Take
Al Cisneros is one of those artists I respect precisely because he never chased the spotlight. As the bassist and voice behind Sleep and Om, he built entire cathedrals out of low, slow, hypnotic sound, and that takes more conviction than most pop ambition ever will. Coming out of San Jose, he could have softened his edges for wider appeal, yet he kept digging deeper, even releasing nine solo works. I find that kind of single-minded devotion to a heavy, meditative aesthetic genuinely moving. He is a craftsman first, a celebrity never, and I admire him for it.
