My Take
Al Greenwood appeals to me as the consummate background craftsman. A founding member of Foreigner and its keyboardist from 1976 to 1980, he laid the foundation beneath that huge, glossy sound on Foreigner, Double Vision, and Head Games, yet never sought the spotlight. New York born, he left the band early, and for decades his contribution felt underrecognized. So his 2024 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Foreigner struck me as overdue justice. I have a soft spot for musicians who choose the music over the limelight, and Greenwood is exactly that.
