Andrea Bargnani

Bargnani is one of those careers I keep revisiting. Going first overall in the 2006 NBA draft, the first Italian ever to do so, put an enormous weight on his shoulders, and the verdict on him has always been divided. But I think he was simply early. A 213 cm big man who could stretch the floor with his shot was a novelty then and is the league standard now. Coming out of Rome via Benetton Treviso, he had genuine skill and vision.
