Andrew Abbott is one of those pitchers who quietly crept up on you and suddenly you realized you'd been underestimating him the whole time. A lefty out of Lynchburg, Virginia, he came up through the Cincinnati Reds system and made his MLB debut in 2023 — and honestly, he looked totally comfortable from the jump, which you just don't see that often. What I love about his game is the deceptive quality to his stuff; he's not blowing anyone away with pure velocity, but he commands the zone well and mixes his pitches with a craftiness that punishes hitters who get complacent.
