My Take
Andy Lau is, simply put, a living institution of Hong Kong entertainment. One of TVB's Five Tiger Generals in the 1980s and a Four Heavenly King in the 1990s, his resume alone carries the weight of history. He fills concert halls as a singer and has twice won the Golden Horse for Best Leading Actor, so the talent is no fluke. What floors me is his relentless work ethic, still going strong well past sixty. With a Bronze Bauhinia Star recognizing his civic standing, he transcends mere stardom; to me he is a piece of culture itself. No fan of Hong Kong cinema can skip this man.
