My Take

Angela Zhang is one of those Mandopop figures I respect for sheer staying power. Coming out of Taoyuan and breaking through with the dramas My MVP Valentine and At Dolphin Bay in the early 2000s, she could easily have been pinned as a TV idol forever. Instead she built a real singing career, and what gets me is the resilience underneath it, the family disputes and career interruptions she pushed through. When she returned and absolutely blew the roof off a competition stage years later, I felt that vindication secondhand. I like artists who go quiet, take their hits, and then remind everyone the voice never left.
