My Take
Annaleigh Ashford is the kind of triple-threat that Broadway quietly treasures. Coming up through Wicked, Legally Blonde and Kinky Boots before snatching a Tony for Best Featured Actress, she earned every bit of her standing the old-fashioned way. What I admire most is that she's a craftsperson, not a tabloid figure: a Denver kid trained at Marymount Manhattan who lets the work do the talking. Performers who can sing, dance and act with equal conviction are rarer than the spotlight suggests, and she changes the temperature of any scene she enters. I'd watch her in anything she chooses.
