My Take
Anthony Fantano embodies what music criticism became in the internet age. Running The Needle Drop from Wolcott, Connecticut, the self-styled "Internet's Busiest Music Nerd" turned one person's blunt verdicts into a genuine force the industry watches. I respect that he scores honestly and antagonizes artists and fans alike when he means it; that friction is the price of having an actual point of view. A state-school graduate who built influence on conviction rather than connections, he proves a single committed voice can still matter. Whether or not you agree with his ratings, the man does real work, and I value that.
