My Take
Anu Malik is, for me, one of the defining sounds of Bollywood. Son of composer Sardar Malik, he could have coasted on the name, but instead built his own legacy with a National Film Award and multiple Filmfare wins. In Hindi cinema the music is as much a lead character as any actor, and Malik kept that heart beating for decades. I particularly like that he sings, arranges, and composes, refusing to box himself in. His classically grounded melodies have a warmth that lingers. There is a hungry, hands-on craftsmanship in his work that I genuinely respect.
