My Take
Arian Moayed is one of those actors I trust completely with morally slippery material. His Stewy Hoss on Succession was deliciously inscrutable, a man whose smile never quite reaches his intentions. Born in Tehran and raised in America, he brings a layered outsider's perspective to his work, and the fact that he also writes and directs tells me he sees performance as part of a larger creative vision. Two Tony nominations and two Emmy nods confirm he is equally at home on stage and screen. I value quietly intense performers who never beg for attention, and he is firmly in that camp.
