My Take

Bae Jin-young is one of those guys who almost slipped through the cracks — he finished tenth in Produce 101 Season 2, which technically made the cut for Wanna One but felt like a cliffhanger. And yet he made it work: he rode that Wanna One wave, then pivoted into CIX when most people thought post-Produce careers were a coin flip. Born in 2000, which means he was barely a teenager when survival show culture swallowed Korean pop whole, and he came out the other side with actual longevity. His run with CIX lasted until 2024, which for a group that started without the same headline push as some of their peers is genuinely respectable. I'm curious where he lands next as a solo — he's got the vocal chops and the acting credits to go either direction.

He is a former member of South Korean boy groups CIX and Wanna One, after finishing tenth in the final rankings of Produce 101 season 2. Following Wanna One's disbandment, Bae Jinyoung debuted in CIX in July 2019 and departed from the group after his contract expired in August 2024.
