My Take
Basshunter is one of those artists critics love to dismiss as a passing fad, but I think that misses the point entirely. There's a genuine craft in making bass-heavy Eurodance feel this joyful and instantly memorable. I find it telling that he grew up singing in his mother's choir, because beneath the synths there's always a real melodic sensibility holding things together. He gave the late-2000s a soundtrack of pure, unpretentious fun, and that European newcomer award felt earned. I respect music that simply lifts people up, and his does exactly that without apology or pretension.
