My Take

Bill Hicks is one of those rare comics I keep returning to with something close to reverence. Dead at 32, he packed more fury, philosophy and tenderness into a short career than most manage in fifty years. What grips me is that his darkness was never cynicism for its own sake, it came from someone who genuinely cared how the world was run. Religion, politics, the whole machinery, he flayed it all, and audiences either loved or recoiled. That he is still quoted three decades on tells you everything. Time has not dulled a single one of his words, and I doubt it ever will.
