Bill Johnson

Bill Johnson interests me less as a religious figure and more as a study in sustained organizational growth. Taking a congregation from roughly 2,000 to nearly 9,000 over three decades is the kind of slow, compounding influence that few leaders achieve in any field. Whatever one makes of Bethel Church's theology, the magnetism required to build that following over seventy-plus years of life is undeniable. I'm drawn to people who play the long game, and Johnson clearly understood that institutions are built one patient year at a time rather than in dramatic bursts.
