Bruce Xiaoyu Liu

Bruce Xiaoyu Liu feels like one of the most exciting pianists of his generation to me. Born in Paris, raised in Montreal, with Chinese roots, he carries a cultural blend that surely colors his playing. Winning the 2021 International Chopin Piano Competition, perhaps the most pressure-laden stage in classical music, is no small feat; it demands focus and nerve that few possess. He started at eight and was performing by eleven, so the discipline runs deep. I'm genuinely curious to see how far his artistry stretches in the years ahead. This is a musician I want to keep watching.
