My Take
Bryan Stevenson is one of the people who restores my faith in the slow, unglamorous machinery of justice. From little Milton, Delaware, he planted himself in Montgomery, Alabama, and spent decades fighting for the poor, for children, for the wrongly condemned. The MacArthur and Olof Palme prizes are nice, but his real legacy is case-by-case, life-by-life persistence. Just Mercy gutted me when I read it. What I admire is that he changes the system not through grand speeches but through stubborn, patient work. He proves that integrity, sustained long enough, becomes a kind of revolution.
