Cecilia Todd is the kind of artist I instinctively respect: a keeper of cultural memory rather than a chaser of charts. Born in Caracas and singing while playing the cuatro, she has spent more than half a century carrying the folk traditions of Venezuela on a small four-stringed instrument. There is something quietly heroic about devoting a lifetime to your homeland's music instead of bending toward fashion.
