My Take
Wray occupies a role that fascinates me precisely because it is so unenviable. Steering the FBI from 2017 to 2025, appointed by Trump to replace James Comey and stepping away before the full ten-year term ran its course, he sat at the brutal intersection of law and political pressure. A Yale-educated New York attorney born in 1966, he struck me as the unflashy institutionalist type, the kind who keeps the machine running rather than seeking the spotlight. Whatever one makes of the era, holding that chair through such turbulence demands a particular composure. I tend to respect the steady hands who weather storms quietly over those who court attention.
