My Take

Cole Garner is exactly the type of player whose thin paper trail makes me lean in closer. A Long Beach, California outfielder, he reached the Major Leagues with the Colorado Rockies in 2011, and that single line carries more weight than it first appears. Only a tiny fraction of the thousands grinding through the minor leagues ever get that call, so simply standing on a big league field is a real achievement. Growing up in a baseball loving region, he kept swinging to chase the dream as far as it would go. The stint may have been brief, but the title of Major Leaguer lasts forever, and I respect the grind behind it.
