My Take

Nibombé's story moves me on two levels. As a 196 cm centre-back he was the immovable object every defense dreams of, the kind of presence that makes attackers think twice in the box. But what really earns my admiration is the second act: rising from player to head coach of his own Togo national team from 2024 to 2025. Leading the country you grew up in, from Lomé to the world stage, carries a weight outsiders rarely appreciate. Defenders and managers seldom get the glory, yet they shape outcomes profoundly. To me, a man who gave a smaller footballing nation his whole career deserves real respect.
