My Take

What I appreciate about Dion Dawkins is the blue-collar arc of his story. He rose from Rahway High School in New Jersey through Temple to become an offensive tackle for the Buffalo Bills. Offensive line is a thankless job that almost never shows up in a stat line, yet it is the last wall protecting the quarterback. I am drawn to the men who throw their bodies into every snap behind the glory of a touchdown. There is something quietly heroic about carrying your hometown's name onto the biggest stage and grinding away where nobody is watching, and Dawkins embodies it.
