My Take

Drew Starkey is, for my money, one of the more interesting young actors quietly leveling up. As Rafe Cameron on Outer Banks he took a character written to be unlikable and made him genuinely human, which is harder than it sounds. Then Queer in 2024 announced him as a serious adult performer rather than a teen-drama fixture. I like that his trajectory is a grind, from small parts in Love, Simon and The Hate U Give to leading roles, with a grounded Western Carolina University background underneath. He feels like someone climbing on craft, not buzz, and that earns my attention.
