My Take
Dwight Evans strikes me as the embodiment of the homegrown, hard earned public servant. A former teacher and employment counsellor from Philadelphia who studied at La Salle, he served in the Pennsylvania House from 1981 to 2016 before moving on to represent the state's third congressional district in Congress. I tend to trust politicians who come from the classroom, because they usually carry a grounded sense of how policy actually lands in people's daily lives rather than just on paper. Nearly half a century of working for the same city reflects a tenacity I genuinely admire. To me, that kind of rootedness is what a real local representative should look like.
