My Take
El Risitas fascinates me as proof that comedy is a universal language. Juan Joya Borja, a Seville comedian most of the world never heard speak intelligibly, became a global phenomenon in 2015 purely through a 2007 interview where his collapsing, wheezing laughter was the entire joke. No translation, no punchline, just pure contagious delight crossing every border at once. That, to me, is the essence of humor distilled to its core. He passed in 2021, yet somewhere online he is still making strangers laugh every single day. I can think of few more enviable legacies than that.
