Ellen Muth

Ellen Muth will always be Georgia Lass to me, the reluctant reaper at the center of Dead Like Me. Born in Milford, Connecticut, she moved from child modeling into acting and brought a dry, melancholy intelligence that the role needed exactly. She was never built for mass-market stardom, and I think that is the point; her appeal is the cult kind, the sort that burrows into the right viewers and stays. Even with a relatively short career before retiring, she left a distinct emotional imprint. That ability to be unforgettable rather than ubiquitous is, to me, the rarer and more interesting talent.
