My Take

Elly De La Cruz is the most electrifying thing to happen to a baseball diamond in years, and I say that as someone wary of hype. The combination of elite speed, a cannon arm, and switch-hitting power simply should not exist in one body. What sells me is the joy: he plays like a kid who cannot believe he gets to do this, and that energy is contagious for a franchise like Cincinnati that needed a spark. Back-to-back All-Star selections this early suggest the floor is high; if his plate discipline keeps maturing, I genuinely believe we are watching a future face of the sport.
