My Take
Emraan Hashmi strikes me as one of Bollywood's great reputation-reversal stories. Early in his career he was filed away under a single, slightly dismissive label for his bold on-screen scenes, and a lesser actor would have stayed in that box forever. Instead, the Mumbai native kept taking grittier, more demanding roles until the industry had to re-evaluate him as one of India's most unconventional leading men, with multiple Filmfare nominations to show for it. Films like Awarapan reveal what he does best: brooding, morally tangled characters carried by quiet intensity. I admire performers who out-act their own stereotype, and Hashmi did exactly that.
