My Take
Eric Schlosser will always be, to me, the man behind Fast Food Nation. A New York-born journalist with an elite education, he never settled for armchair theorizing; his work is the product of relentless, on-the-ground reporting. Exposing the hidden labor and supply chains behind a single hamburger, and doing it in prose that actually grips you, is a genuine feat. He later turned that same investigative rigor toward the terrifying fragility of nuclear weapons safety. I deeply respect writers who drag the buried structures of everyday life into the light, and Schlosser does it with both courage and craft.
