My Take
Erin Gray is, to me, an underappreciated bridge figure of late-twentieth-century television. Her Colonel Wilma Deering in Buck Rogers gave science fiction a commanding female officer years before it became fashionable, and she carried that authority with an ease that modeling alone could never teach. What interests me most is her work as a casting agent, a move that signals real self-awareness about where power in the industry actually lives. A one-time UCLA mathematics student who saw both sides of the camera, she strikes me as someone who understood show business as a system, not just a stage. That perspective deserves more credit than it gets.
