Eumir Deodato

What I admire most about Eumir Deodato is his refusal to sit still in one lane. Trained in jazz, he treated genre boundaries as suggestions rather than rules, folding pop, rock, disco, classical and bossa nova into something unmistakably his own. To me he reads less like a performer chasing the spotlight and more like an architect of sound, the kind of arranger whose fingerprints are all over records you love without your realizing it. That he kept folding new genres into his work for decades says everything about a restless, curious mind. I find that quiet, craft-first longevity far more impressive than any single hit.
