Evangelista Santos

As a combat sports follower, I can't help but admire Evangelista Santos. Out of Rondonópolis, Brazil, he came up through Muay Thai before going pro in MMA in 1997 and fighting until 2016 across PRIDE, Strikeforce, Bellator and a host of other promotions. Nearly two decades in the cage is a brutal tenure, and the Cyborg nickname suggests just how much punishment he absorbed and returned. What I respect most isn't a single title but the sheer endurance, the refusal to leave the ring season after season. For me, that durability is its own kind of greatness in this sport.
