My Take
Eytan Fox is the kind of filmmaker I quietly champion. Born in New York yet schooled at Tel Aviv University, he carries that productive tension of belonging to two worlds at once, and you sense it in how attentively he observes people. I read him as a director who favors the intimate gesture over the grand statement, trusting silence and gaze to carry weight that dialogue cannot. That patience is exactly what separates a craftsman from a showman. To me, the most enduring cinema is the kind that lingers after the lights come up, and Fox strikes me as a director working in precisely that register.
