My Take
François Pinault fascinates me as a study in instinct. From Les Champs-Géraux in Côtes-d'Armor and a timber business, he built Kering into a fortress of luxury, gathering Gucci, Saint Laurent, Balenciaga and Bottega Veneta under one roof. That alone would be remarkable, but his reach into Christie's, Château Latour and one of the world's great art collections reveals a man who chases not just profit but culture. The repeated Legion of Honour distinctions feel earned. What I admire is the rare fusion of ruthless commercial vision and genuine aesthetic passion. He is, to me, the archetype of the self-made tycoon who never stopped reaching upward.
