My Take
Potente will always be the running woman of Run Lola Run to me, but reducing her to 1998 misses the point. The Bambi and MTV Europe wins came early, yet she refused to coast on breakthrough fame. She acts, writes screenplays, directs, and has published fiction, cultivating her own creative ground rather than waiting to be cast. She broke into Hollywood through the Bourne films without surrendering her German roots or her authorial appetite. What I find compelling is that refusal to be a one-hit phenomenon. The sprinting, it turns out, never stopped at the edge of the frame.
