My Take
Garret Dillahunt is one of those actors who makes you stop mid-sentence and go "wait, that's the same guy?" — and I mean that as the highest compliment. He played two completely different characters in Deadwood, Jack McCall and Francis Wolcott, and pulled it off so convincingly that casual viewers genuinely didn't clock it. That kind of chameleonic range is rare. Then he turned around and did warm, bumbling comedy in Raising Hope, earning a Critics' Choice nomination in the process. He can do menace, he can do heart, he can do goofy — and he brings real craft to all of it, which makes sense given his University of Washington theater background. Hollywood loves to typecast, and Dillahunt keeps quietly refusing to let that happen. Criminally underrated doesn't even cover it; this guy deserves way more marquee space than he typically gets.
