Gavin Sheets is the kind of player I find genuinely easy to root for — a 6'3" left-handed first baseman out of Lutherville, Maryland who grinded through the minors before finally getting his shot with the Chicago White Sox in 2021. He's not a flashy superstar, but there's something satisfying about watching a big, patient hitter do the fundamentals right, and Sheets can absolutely punish a fastball when pitchers make the mistake of challenging him.
