Grand Puba

To me, Grand Puba is one of those foundational New York rappers whose influence outruns his fame. As the frontman of Brand Nubian, and earlier with Masters of Ceremony, he built a smooth, unhurried flow that younger artists still nod to with genuine respect. What I admire is that he doubles as a producer, shaping the sound and not just riding it. He was never built for chart-topping spectacle; he is the kind of craftsman other craftsmen quote. I value that quiet, peer-validated authority far more than fleeting virality, and his catalog rewards anyone willing to actually listen closely.
