Grant Shapps

Grant Shapps fascinates me less for any single policy than for his sheer durability. Transport, Home, Business, Energy, finally Defence, all under four different prime ministers, is a survival record that says something about adaptability in British politics. I'm genuinely curious how a Hertfordshire businessman turned author became such an indispensable utility player in cabinet after cabinet. Whatever one thinks of his politics, the ability to keep landing on his feet through Cameron, Johnson, Truss and Sunak is a study in political resilience. I'd love to hear his honest account of how you actually stay in the room that long.
