Miyavi

Honestly, MIYAVI is one of those artists who makes me rethink what a guitar even is. This guy from Hyogo ditched the pick entirely and just started slapping the strings like a bassist on a sugar rush, and somehow it turned into a whole signature sound. They call him the Samurai Guitarist and yeah, that tracks, because both the look and the playing are sharp enough to cut. What gets me is the range: he rips through these globe-trotting, genre-agnostic sets and then turns up acting in an Angelina Jolie movie like it's no big deal. He just trusts his own noise and runs with it, and I think that's genuinely cool.
