Greg Howe

What I admire about Greg Howe is his refusal to be boxed in. He arrived as a shred prodigy, yet his real signature is the jazz breathing underneath all that velocity. Four decades, ten studio albums, and a long resume as a generous session player tell me he cares more about the music than the spotlight. Plenty of fast guitarists burn out chasing flash; Howe kept evolving, folding fusion and feel into his technique. To me that longevity is the truest measure of a musician, and it makes him far more interesting than his early flash suggested.
