Hans-Adam II, Prince of Liechtenstein

Hans-Adam II is one of those rare figures who makes you do a double-take — this guy is an actual reigning monarch in the 21st century, ruling Liechtenstein since 1989, and he's genuinely good at it. What I find fascinating is that he's not just a ceremonial figurehead collecting dust in a palace: he studied at the University of St. Gallen, turned Liechtenstein into one of the wealthiest countries per capita on earth through savvy banking and business, and oversaw a constitutional reform in 2003 that actually expanded his own powers significantly, which was controversial but passed by referendum. He's also a serious art collector — the House of Liechtenstein holds one of the greatest private art collections in the world. Knight of the Golden Fleece and all, this man is living proof that small doesn't mean irrelevant.
