Hidenori Kuramoto

Hidenori Kuramoto, who played simply as Hidenori, was born on May 9, 1976, in Hashima, Gifu Prefecture, and stands 182 cm. He was an outfielder for the Chunichi Dragons from 2001 to 2012, and he then coached for the same organisation, including as its second-team outfield and base-running coach, until 2022. Players like this are badly served by box scores. A defensive outfielder's best work is the double that never happens, the runner who does not try for third, the pitcher who throws with slightly more confidence because he knows the gap is covered. None of that appears in a batting line, and all of it is visible from a seat in the stadium. What I appreciate most is the continuity. He spent twelve seasons with one club, then stayed to teach the exact skills he had spent that career refining, to players in the lower squad who need them most. Institutional knowledge passed down in place rather than scattered.
