Hiroki Okamura

Hiroki Okamura is a badminton player out of Obihiro, Hokkaido — and honestly, there's something fitting about a guy from that wide-open northern landscape chasing a shuttlecock around a court. Born in December 1998, he's still very much in the building phase of his career, and badminton is one of those sports that rewards patience as much as raw athleticism. People underestimate how much mental chess is packed into every rally — the feints, the reading of angles, the split-second decisions. His first Super 300 title, at the 2026 U.S. Open with Kyohei Yamashita, tells me the work is paying off, and I'm watching this space.
