My Take

Hudson Mohawke is, in my view, one of the most quietly influential producers of his generation. Ross Birchard from Glasgow helped found the LuckyMe label and became a defining voice of the late-2000s wonky scene, bending hip-hop and electronic music into something fractured and unmistakably his own. His textures are dense, maximalist, and emotionally rich, and even the unlikely viral life of Cbat shows how distinctive his sound is. I love that an artist from Glasgow nudged global music forward through sheer sonic personality. I will keep following wherever his ear takes him.
