Ingrid Bolsø Berdal

Ingrid Bolsø Berdal is the kind of actress I root for. She broke through in the Norwegian slasher Cold Prey, then carried that intensity into Hollywood with Chernobyl Diaries, Hansel & Gretel and Hercules, all without losing her edge. Her awards span a local dialect prize, an Amanda for best actress, and a recent Gullruten, which tells me she's respected at home and abroad alike. With training as a stage actor and singer, her range clearly runs deep. What I value is her refusal to be flattened into one genre; she stays unmistakably herself.
