Jack Blades

Jack Blades is exactly the kind of musician I admire most: the dependable backbone rather than the flashy frontman. As bassist and co-lead vocalist of Night Ranger, a founding member of Damn Yankees, and a collaborator with Tommy Shaw and Tak Matsumoto, he has quietly shaped decades of American rock. What impresses me is the longevity. Singing, playing bass, and writing songs all at once is a triple role few sustain. He represents the unglamorous craft that holds bands together, and to me that durability is worth more respect than any single hit single ever gets.
